Ingrid Therese Hammar - Fine Artist
Skreia, Oppland - Norway
Born on the 24th of May, 1989, in Namsos, Norway, I had an interest in drawing ever since I could hold a crayon. In my early school years I took an interest in Arts and Craft, that was my favourite subject, and spent my time drawing whenever I could. At 11, on a class visit to the library, I found a book about drawing, flipping through the pages I found only trees, landscape and animals, which I was not interested in then. When I reached the very last pages of the book, I found the subject of nude drawings, which would later turn out to be my favourite subject. It was first at the age of 12 that I knew it was possible to be an artist, as a profession, and ever since that, it has been my aspiration.
So far I have attended the Norwegian cultural show 'Ungdommens Kulturmønstring' for four years in a row, where I went to the second round, representing my municipality two times, and to the third and final round two times, representing my county in the national exhibit. In the summer 2007 I received 'The Dream Scholarship', distributed by the Norwegian Culture school Council.
I have sold a painting to the Municipality of Oestre Toten, where I live, which is displayed in the communal building. In addition to that, I have works in private collections in Norway, Italy, England, USA, The Czech Republic, Venezuela, Belgium, Germany, Finland and Greece.
Since 2005 I have been taught by the American artist R.C.Bailey, a member of the International Guild of Realists, and I am now finishing the third and final year of senior high school in Arts and Design. After graduating I plan to attend the Academy of Arts or or the University in Oslo, studying what I like most of all. Until then, I paint and draw whenever I can, hoping sometime the aspiration of being able to do do this all the time, will come true.
